Upcoming Bollywood Biopics are more interesting & enlightening
The biopic films of Bollywood are enlightening in content. Such Bollywood movies do not only hit the box office but also leave an impact on the audience at home and abroad. Biopic is the best medium to inspire the current and coming generations with glimpses into the eventful lives of legendary personalities, who either lived or died for a cause. With the audience having thumbed up Pan Singh Tomar, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Mary Kom, biopic has become a popular genre of high-level edutainment. The biopic on Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s life, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, is in making under Neeraj Pandey’s direction. A biopic on Meena Kumari, a Bollywood diva of the olden times, is under consideration. Here is my list of upcoming Bollywood biopics in 2015 which we are eagerly waiting for.
Vidya Balan to play Suchitra Sen
Actress Vidya Balan has reportedly been roped in to play Suchitra Sen, a legendary actress in Indian Cinema, in a biopic. Suchitra Sen who breathed her last in 2014 is remembered for her Bollywood movies including Aandhi. Pandit Jayu Raman will train Vidya in Kathak for the sake of the script. The upcoming biopic on Suchitra Sen promises to be one of the greatest biopics in Bollywood. Vidya Balan has also been approached to play the character Benazir Bhutto, a political personality, in another biopic.
Randeep Hooda to play Charles Sohbraj
Prawaal Raman’s Main Aur Charles, one of the upcoming biopic films in Bollywood 2015, is a crime thriller starring Randeep Hooda in the shoes of Charles Sohbraj, an infamous serial killer. Charles Sohbraj who fled from Tihar Jail in 1986 is also known as the “Bikini Killer of the 70s.” The leading cast of Main Aur Charles includes Adil Hussain and Richa Chadda as well.
Ranbir Kapoor to play Sanjay Dutt
Rajkumar Hirani, acclaimed director of PK and “Munna Bhai” films, is in the news for his plan to make a biopic on Sanjay Dutt. Sanjay Dutt was the leading hero in Rajkumar Hirani’s Munna Bhai MBBS and Munna Bhai Lage Raho, two Bollywood blockbusters. The grapevine buzzes that Ranbir Kapoor is the choice for the lead role in this biopic film.
Emraan Hashmi to play Mohammad Azharuddin
Produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, the biopic on Mohammad Azharuddin, former captain of Indian cricket team, stars Bollywood’s serial kisser Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. This biopic film is reported to be a cinematic portrait of Mohammad Azharuddin’s life in and beyond sports. What is more interesting is the buzz that Kareena Kapoor plays Sangeeta Bijlani, who is Salman Khan’s first love interest and Azharuddin’s second wife.
Shah Rukh Khan to play Dhyan Chand
The grapevine buzzes that Shah Rukh Khan is likely to portray Dhayn Chand in a biopic on the hockey legend of India. A three-time Olympic gold medal winner, Dyan Chand is known as “The Wizard.” Karan Johar has already bought the rights to make and produce this ambitious biopic film. However, the leading cast is yet to be officially announced.
Sonam Kapoor to play Neerja Bhanot
In one of the upcoming movies Bollywood 2015, Sonam Kapoor will be seen playing Neerja Bhanot. Neerja Bhanot was a Mumbai-based flight attendant who sacrificed her own life for saving passengers on a hijacked flight of Pan Am in 1986.
Sonakshi Sinha to play Amrita Pritam
In one of the upcoming biopic films, Sonakshi Sinha will play the role of Amrita Pritam whose novel “Pinjar” was adapted into a National Film Award winning movie of the same time. Amrita Pritam was one of the renowned poets, novelists and essayists in the 20th century. She was the first prominent voice for women’s rights in the Punjabi literature. She was the first woman writer to have won the Sahitya Academy Award.
Ranbir Kapoor to play Kishore Kumar
Besides portraying the eventful life of Sanjay Dutt to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Ranbir Kapoor will play Bollywood singer and actor Kishore Kumar in another biopic. Anurag Basu of Life in a Metro and Barfi! fame will direct the biopic on Kishore Kumar, a legend in Indian Cinema.
Vidya Balan to play MS Subbulakshmi
Vidya Balan whose unexpected performance as the late actress Silk Smitha left Indians dumbstruck in The Dirty Picture will be seen playing the legendary Carnatic Singer MS Subbulakshmi in a biopic to be directed by Rajiv Menon, a renowned Tamil filmmaker. MS Subbulakshmi was the first musician to have been awarded Bharat Ratna. Now there is a stay order on the project due to a legal trouble.
