She joins the Bollywood celebration of Durga puja in her upcoming film, Bullett Raja, with Saif Ali Khan and Jimmy Shergil. Vidya Balan was last seen embodying the victory of the good over the evil amidst Durga puja celebrations in Kolkata, in the climax of Kahaani.

The fashion of featuring the lead heroine in the Durga puja celebration sequence became a trend with the release of Sanjay Leela Banshali’s Devdas in 2002. Aishwarya Rai was seen standing in front of the Durga idol in the song Silsila yeh chahat ka of the movie. She was gorgeously styled in a crimson red saree with golden zari border. Devdas highlighted not only the festive culture of Bengal but also traditional Bengali fashion.

Bollywood’s Durga puja celebration became more spectacular in Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta, in 2005. Vidya Balan was the face of Bengali culture, tradition and fashion in her Bollywood debut. Like Bengali women, she was seen wearing white saree with red border in the Durga puja sequence. However, Sonakshi Sinha has left behind these Bollywood divas.

She has not only decked herself from head to toe in traditional Bengali fashion but also performed dance in the song featuring Kolkata’s Durga puja. She will be seen with a red bindi on her forehead, and alta design on her hands. She has played a contemporary Bengali girl in her upcoming release Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja, next to Lootera. What more? Sonakshi will be seen matching her steps in rhythm with Jhumur, a folk dance of Bengal.

Let’s wait till the release of Bullett Raja, to see if Sonakshi’s Bengali beauty, style and fashion will charm the audience.
