Churni Ganguly’s Upcoming Film Tarikh on Role of Social Media in Relationships
National Award-winning Bengali filmmaker, Churni Ganguly is up with her second directorial film titled Tarikh. Post her directorial debut Nirbashito (Banished), a daring film on the solitary life of Taslima Nasrin in exile, Churni Ganguly has shifted her lens to show how social media affects the lives and relationship of three individuals in Tarikh.
Unlike other triangle love stories, Churni Ganguly’s Tarikh will depict subtle nuances of social media in our day-to-day life. Tarikh stars Raima Sen, Ritwick Chakraborty and Saswata Chatterjee; all three are versatile, maverick actors in Bengali Art House Cinema. Churni has already started shooting the film in different parts of Kolkata.
The cast of Tarikh film also includes June Malia and famous danceuse Aloknanda Roy. The Nirbashito director is sanguine about the cast’s talent, brilliance and versatility. She has roped in Ritwick the first time, but Saswata Chatterjee and Raima Sen were in the leading cast of Nirbashito.
In a recent press conference, Churni Ganguly said that social media plays a significant role in shaping the relationship of three leading characters in Tarikh, which is also about complex bonding and larger than life aspirations of the characters representing us in the real. She added that Tarikh also takes on a woman’s struggle and survival like Nirbashito.
Raima’s character is a conformist, Ritwick’s character is a realist and Saswata’s character is an idealist in Churni Ganguly’s Tarikh. Suparna Kanti Korati who financed Kaushik Ganguly’s National Award-winning Bengali art film Bisarjan will produce Tarikh.
