Saswata Chatterjee’s upcoming Bangla movie list in 2013

Saswata Chatterjee who made his Bolywood debut with Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahani in 2012 and became famous as Bob Biswas in the entertainment industry began the year of 2013 with his Bangla movie release, Namte Namte, directed by Rana Basu. The movie also stars Rupa Ganguli and Rajatava Dutta.

Saswata Chatterjee whose Hathfata Kartik stole the show in Bhooter Bhabishyat in 2012 is going to make another comic appearance in Damadol directed by Manoj Michigan. Saswata plays Papu Bhai in Damadol, the story of Aditya played by Samadarshi Dutta who shot to fame with his powerhouse performance in two Bangla movies: Ami Adu and EchheSaswata Chatterjee’s upcoming Bangla movie list in 2013

Samadarshi’s Aditya aspires to be a filmmaker and tries every means to make his dream come true. But no opportunity comes his way. Then Saswata’s Papu Bhai appears to help Aditya become a filmmaker. The cast of Damadol includes Anindita Bannerjee, Saheb Bhattacharya, Priyanka and Rajdeep Gupta. 

One of the most-awaited Bangla movies 2013 is Meghe Dhaka Tara, the most ambitious project in Saswata Chatterjee’s movie list. It is directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee who is working on another project Chander Pahar, an adventure movie starring Dev in the lead. Neither a remake nor a take on Ritwik Ghatak’s classic Meghe Dhaka Tara (released in 1960), this upcoming Bangla Movie starring Saswata Chatterjee in the male lead, Nilkanta, is a biopic on the last days of Ritwik Ghatak’s life in a mental asylum. 

Ananya Chatterjee who won the Best Actress National Award for her performance in Rituparno Ghosh’s Abohman is playing Nilkanta’s wife Durga in Meghe Dhaka Tara. Of other important characters in the movie will be seen Joydeep Mukherjee as Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Anindya Bose as Mrinal Sen, Abhijit Guha as Salil Choudhury and Mumtaz Sarkar as Supriya Devi.
