Shah Rukh & a bevy of beauties to pay tribute to Yash Chopra
Shah Rukh Khan who was shot with Bollywood actresses who were the then faces of Lux in an ad years ago will be seen walking the ramp in a fashion show, as a tribute to Yash Chopra the King of romance on the latter’s birthday tomorrow (27th September). Yash Chopra, the great discoverer of beauty in Bollywood, had a keen sense of fashion. The leading ladies of B-town from the retro period to metro times were draped so beautifully in his movies that even the beauty of their inner selves was aesthetically portrayed.
The late filmmaker’s wife Pamela is organizing the fashion show on the occasion of his 81st birth anniversary. The function is going to be a gala with the presence of his heroines – Madhuri Dixit (Dil To Pagal Hai), Juhi Chawla (Darr), Sridevi (Chandni), Rani Mukherjee (Veer-Zara), Preti Zinta (Veer-Zara) and Katrina Kaif (Jab Tak Hai Jaan) – on the ramp. Surrounded by the bevy of beauties, Shah Rukh Khan is expected to steal the show with his machismo.
Shah Rukh Khan was starred in four of the blockbusters directed by Yash Chopra – Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara and Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Khan was the leading hero of the last movie, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, in the legendary director’s repertoire. He could not refuse Pamela’s request to make the tribute to Yash ji a big one with his presence in the grand finale of the fashion show.
Recently, Yash Raj Films has launched its own Bollywood-inspired fashion lable, Diva’ni, in collaboration with Karol Bagh Saree House. Karol Bagh, based in Delhi, is a leading name in the Indian ethnic wear manufacturing and retailing. Women’s ethnic fashion wear from the lines of Diva’ni label will be showcased in the fashion show tomorrow. The presence of Rekha and Jaya Bachchan who were cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Yash Chopra’s Silsila is not confirmed yet.
