Shashi Tharoor launched The Silver Edition of The Great Indian Novel

Mumbai, 2nd November, 2014: The Silver Edition of ‘The Great Indian Novel’ by Indian politician Mr. Shashi Tharoor has been launched today at the Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest. Originally published in 1989, the novel is a satirical and cheeky take on the modern day political situation in the 20th century. Inspired by the famous Indian epic the Mahabharata, characters and situations have been reset in the context of the Indian Independence Movement as well as the years post-independence.

The launch was followed by an enthralling conversation between Mr Tharoor and Mr. Anil Dharkar, Founder & Festival Director, which had the audience tittering with laughter. Reading interesting excerpts from his book, Tharoor commented, “I am a part time writer, with a day job and commitments. I write for the unique pleasure that comes with writing, as well as the delightful discovery of possibilities. The more I write, the more possibilities occur to me.”
